FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY

The Fire and Life Safety Division provides fire and life safety inspections and education to the citizens of Wilmington. Inspectors conduct inspections in all new and existing occupancies except for one and two family dwellings unless requested.

Public safety education is designed to reduce the number of fires and injuries incurred by residents and visitors.  The department’s Fire and Life Safety Educator coordinates all educational efforts.   The reduction of fire incidents saves taxpayers money through lower insurance rates and other associated costs.

Our Mission
The mission of the Wilmington Fire and Life Safety Division is to ensure the safety and well being of all those who reside in, work in or visit our community by promoting fire and life safety prevention through public education, fire safety inspections and by investigation of the origins and causes of fire.
