The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for managing the safe and efficient flow of traffic on streets within the City. The Division provides maintenance to all traffic signals within the municipal limits, and installs and maintains traffic signs and pavement markings on City-maintained streets. The Traffic Management Center monitors the individual traffic signals via computers and video cameras, analyzes major traffic arterial routes, troubleshoots system problems, conducts signal warrant analysis, and develops and modifies signal timing plans. The Division provides a variety of services, including technical review of development plans and transportation projects, the Neighborhood Traffic Management program, the Street Lighting program, and management of special projects.
